1. It is unique to you
None of the other 7.6 billion people on the planet looks quite like you (unless you’re an identical twin!). So, by being you, you are literally one of a kind! Being different to others is no bad thing, and should be something we’re working to embrace.
Actress Meryl Streep has a great attitude when it comes to being confident in her own skin, and embracing what makes you different. Try to remember her advice!
2. It allows you to do lots of amazing stuff
Think about everything your body allows you to do on a daily basis. This could be walking, breathing, or digesting the food you eat! These things may seem small, but they’re vital in keeping you alive, happy and healthy.
Your body is even more amazing than that though! As well as keeping you healthy, it allows you to work towards achieving amazing things in your life. This could be to getting your dream job, volunteering for some deserving local cause or completing a challenge you’ve set for yourself.
3. Your time is precious
Your time is better spent doing anything other than worrying about how you look. You could see your friends and family, finish reading that book, try that new sport or learn something new! By trying not to worry about what you look like, you’ll have a lot more opportunity to enjoy every minute.
If you find this difficult, try treating yourself with the same kindness you’d treat others with. Next time you start putting yourself down, ask yourself what you’d say to a friend if they were saying these things about themselves, and apply this advice to yourself!
4. There is no such thing as a perfect body
Despite what we see on social media, online and in magazines – nobody is perfect. Any image you see online or in a magazine is likely to have been edited, posed for or manipulated in some way. In other words, what you see isn’t always real life. Think about it like this… no one walks around looking like they do with a Snapchat filter, do they?
Everyone has insecurities and that is totally ok…the trick is to love yourself anyway!
5. As long as you’re healthy, that’s all that matters.
Is your health a concern? No? Then don’t fret – so long as you’re healthy that is ultimately all that matters! While your body is healthy try your best to never think of it as a problem, it’s doing all it can to help keep you that way.
If you are ever concerned about your health, always speak to your GP for advice.
Most of all, just remember you’re amazing the way you are!
