The Urban Community Project is a social enterprise transforming lives and empowering BAME young people and families by fostering better mental health and wellbeing in a safe and inclusive space.
We tailor our support to work with the whole family, with the focus of the young person and manage their care.
Our services are provided at our premises which are located at 57 Glenapp Street in Pollokshields. The postcode is G41 2NQ.
Our team includes BAME mental health professionals, experienced mentors and volunteers with lived experiences who can offer one-on-one appointments and group sessions to individuals aged 12 to 30.
Urban Youth Project
We run weekly youth sessions aimed at 12 to 15 year olds providing a safe space for young people. These sessions run every Friday and are led by young peer mentors. We cover topics like identity, role models, relationships, mental health awareness, substance use and more. If you’re interested in getting involved, contact us by email to register or for more information.
School Programmes
We can deliver sessions in other settings, such as secondary schools, third sector or public sector organisations in Glasgow or the surrounding areas and would like us to deliver a tailored programme in partnership with your school, focused around our aims and objectives.
Safe Space
We also provide a youth mentoring and counselling service. This provides tailored one to one support for 12 to 30 year olds. We offer a safe space for personal growth for those experiencing mild to moderate anxiety, depression and trauma, with short-term intervention options available for up to 8 sessions. Our space provides a supportive and culturally sensitive service for young people in the community. We ask for a donation-based fee of £30 per session to cover our costs.
Family Wellbeing Support Service
We take a whole family wellbeing approach in our work. Sometimes families are in dispute, conflict, high stress situations in the home and community. This is an early intervention group mediation for families to access support as early as possible before things escalate. Please get in touch by email if you would like to book a family session.
Workshops and Programmes for Adults
We run workshops for adults, focusing on understanding their faith, identity, raising awareness about BAME communities, exploring belonging and reducing social isolation. Through these programs, we improve understanding and encourage dialogue in topics that are often not spoken about within the community.
If you’re a young person, adult or community organisation and you’re interested in taking part or getting involved please reach out to our email address info@urbanyp.org.uk and we will help you get involved. You can also contact us on 0141 370 0596.

Urban Community Project should exist because it is a safe space. Coming to UCP is the highlight of my week. Whenever I come, I can breathe and forget about all of my problems. I also get to make new friends too.
