Glasgow MSYPs – Southside – Priyangaa Mohan

Priyangaa Mohan MSYP for Glasgow Southside

Hi! I’m a student at Bellahouston Academy in Glasgow. I am passionate about making our community better. I’m determined and resilient – if I struggle with something I will persist and make things work – and I have amazing friends who will support me! I always hear everyone’s views and act on behalf of all. I’ve been involved in some leadership and decision-making roles before as a Junior Captain, and a member of the Glasgow Pupil Parliament.

What do you want to achieve as an MSYP

I’ve always admired the young people fighting for change. I became an MSYP because the admiration soon grew into a desire to make a positive change, driven by my passion and determination. I’d love to make our community a safe and inclusive place. As I grew older, I began to face prejudices, and discrimination and have seen my friends experience the same. Everyone should be treated equally and receive the same opportunities.

What are three important issues you’re passionate about?

I’m most interested in Education and Lifelong Learning, Jobs, Economy and Fair Work, and Justice. These are the issues that I will work on as an MSYP. I want to hear from everyone who wants to get in touch to work on these issues with me.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself

I speak Tamil which is one of the oldest languages spoken
