Glasgow MSYPs – Pollok – Vanessa Michael

Vanessa Michael MSYP for Glasgow
Pollok

I want to become an MSYP because I am deeply passionate about representing the voices of young people and making a meaningful impact in my community. My experience as a member of my school’s Pupil Parliament has strengthened d my commitment to representing my peers and advocating for issues that matter to us. I believe that by speaking up on these important topics, I can help drive positive change and ensure our concerns are heard by decisionmakers. I’m also eager to further develop my leadership skills and collaborate with other driven individuals who share the same dedication. Becoming an MSYP would give me the opportunity to actively engage in the democratic process and contribute to shaping a brighter future for young people in Scotland.

What do you want to achieve as an MSYP

I will fully embrace the opportunity to engage directly with young people by meeting them in person. Establishing a strong presence would help build trust with those I represent. I plan to visit local schools and youth clubs to actively listen to their views and raise awareness of the platforms available for everyone to express their opinions. In addition, I would use social media to be accessible and approachable, allowing young people to easily reach out, share their concerns, and stay informed about key issues. In doing so, I aim to create a space where young people feel valued, empowered to speak up, and more connected to their community.

What are three important issues you’re passionate about?

Education and Lifelong Learning, Transport, Edvironment

Tell us a fun fact about yourself

A fun fact about me is that I used to play the violin, and could play tunes like Mama Mia.
