Tayside Council on Alcohol (TCA)

Young people services

What do TCA offer in Angus?

Connect

For young people 10 – 25 who want to talk in private because their who, or someone else’s alcohol and/or substance use is becoming a problem. Project staff meet with the young person at a place and time that works for them to talk about how they can help. Staff can also help with other worries – maybe about benefits, money, family relationships or going to college/training.

Kith ‘n’ Kin

The Kith ‘n’ Kin project works with Aberlour Child Care Trust, giving help to children (0 – 16) affected by parental substance misuse, who now live with a Kinship Carer across Tayside. The Kinship Carer is usually a relative like a grandparent, aunt/uncle or someone from their family but may also be a family friend. Carers and children can receive 1:1 support at home or outreach and can also access the weekly group.

The group can help children meet others living in kinship and organise regular trips and activities to help children and carers become closer.

There are lots of ways the service can help and other projects or support they can help you to get.

The Crew

The Crew is a youth group for children aged 8 – 14 who are affected by parental alcohol and substance misuse. Groups are small with up to 6 and the young person has their place for one year.

The group meets every week and young people help choose what they would like to do. In the past young people have been able to meet nurses, police officers, lifeboat crew members etc.to help them get to know them and learn about their jobs.

The Crew runs on a Wednesday evening (5pm-7pm) at the TCA Angus Office 22-24 Catherine Street, Arbroath. Children are picked up and dropped off by either the worker and/or volunteer.
