Glasgow MSYPs – Shettleston – Adauju Molokwu

MSYP Name: Adauju Molokwu Constituency: Glasgow Shettleston

I grew up in Germany. In my school I’m part of the rights respecting group and helped my school reach gold standard. I love Canvas painting, or more specifically like acrylic painting, and I am pansexual and gender fluid.
Why did you want to become an MSYP? I originally wanted to become an MSYP to make my parents proud, but quickly I realized that I wanted to be a megaphone for young people’s voice, and that I didn’t want anyone to not be heard. I wanted to improve my work in anti-racism and my work in stopping any form of discrimination, and that I wanted to help make good changes in systems that are broken and give silenced voices the chance to make an impact.

I want to be a MSYP nowadays to make an impact on people’s lives, being able to help and support others. I also want to create lasting solutions to problems that have caused people irritation and annoyance, and to encourage others to take opportunities, to give opportunities and to be the one to do it.

Although these reasons are part of my goals my main reason is to show that young people in care can be heard, and that I can be the voice for them, to show that there are things being done about
Issues that concern them, and to show that everyone has the right to be heard and understood. I also want to be to be able to speak up on the topics like inequality and failure of proper justice.

What do you want to achieve as an MSYP?

I want to get other young people involved. To bring people together around issues that are important to them. I want to encourage more schools to have clubs that encourage their pupils to learn about their rights.

I want to make a safer environment for young people and push them away from drugs, alcohol and smoking.

I will support pupils and young people in general, to have more opportunities in leadership and in youth clubs, activities, and events. This means young people can be given the trust and responsibility they work and have worked for.

What are three important issues you’re passionate about?

Justice, Rights, Equality
