Rajsee Saraf MSYP for Glasgow Pollok
Hi! I’m Rajsee. I am a competitive swimmer and part of Glasgow Schools Youth Theatre. Alongside a few other MSYPs I’m part of the Young Women Lead for this year and part of Young Scots: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Panel. I’m grateful to be part of both these projects so I can make a difference.
I wanted to become an MSYP because It’s a fantastic way to get involved and make a difference in my community. Decisions influencing young people are often made without consulting them, and I wanted to be a part of that change.
Politics has always interested me. I’ve been passionate about addressing specific issues with the young people around me. I’ve seen them struggle a lot, and I wanted to be their voice and ensure they’re heard. That’s why I chose to be a part of the Scottish Youth Parliament (SYP). It’s youth-led, democratic, and impartial, which is crucial for effective representation and achieving positive change together as young people.
What do you want to achieve as an MSYP
I would want to see a change in how young people are consulted, so that my constituents feel heard and represented in decision making.
What are three important issues you’re passionate about?
The three most important issues to me right now are: mental health support, education and rights.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself
I was part of GAMTA (Glasgow Academy of Musical Theatre and Acting) for three years and performed in shows in pantomimes.
