Glenvale AFC – ‘Glenvale Mental Health First Aider Project’

After the continuing success of the Glenvale drug and alcohol awareness training it was visibly noted that teams and staff are invested in mental health awareness for all , talking to others and sharing what they have learned. This further training scaffolds existing knowledge and provides an even deeper layer of understanding of signs to look for and how to help someone  who is struggling.  For instance how going for a walk stops you overreacting to something or how making a mistake in your life can be overwhelming and can be made less so by talking to a trusted adult . The mental health first aid qualification gives informed training to manage a situation in the right way.

Young people possess valuable insights into the issues within their local areas and will play a crucial role in shaping educational resources. These resources will become part of the YANA package, which will be made available to other local authorities throughout Scotland, putting Renfrewshire on the map. Additionally, we aim to engage young people in your area to deliver a comprehensive campaign, including a play that will be performed in high schools to raise awareness of child sexual exploitation.
