Supporting young people to access trustworthy information to get informed about politics, democracy and elections, and take the first steps to get involved locally. Whether it’s discovering who represents them in their area, exploring the issues that matter most to them, or making a positive impact in their community, there are lots of ways young people can get informed and get involved

Who are your local Councillors and what do they do?

We have 34 Councillors, who were elected in the council election in May 2022. They are also known as Elected Members and they represent their local community in one of the 11 multi member wards in the Scottish Borders. To find out more about what they do and who they are, click on the link below.

Who are your Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs) and what do they do?

The Scottish Borders is split into two constituencies and you have one MSP for each, as well as a number of regional (South of Scotland) MSPs

Ettrick, Roxburgh and Berwickshire constituency – Rachael Hamilton MSP

Midlothian South, Tweeddale and Lauderdale constituency – Christine Grahame MSP

Most of the Scottish Borders is covered by the constituency of Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk, but Tweeddale comes within the adjoining constituency of Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale and you have one MP for each

Like with the Scottish Parliament, the Scottish Borders is split into two constituencies, but you have the following MSYPs
