Join Glasgow Youth Council

Glasgow Youth Council is the city’s decisionmaking structure and helps young people have their say in issues that affect them

Young people have the right to get involved in decision making about issues that affect their lives.

Glasgow Life are proud to support Glasgow Youth Council, the city’s decision making structure, and help young people have their say in the issue that are important to them. When you join Glasgow Youth Council, you can take part in activities that help support young people to have a say in things that are important to them. We have different ways of getting involved, so it’s best to get in touch and discuss what we can do to help you.

We provide training and support through our Youth and Community Development Team to make the most out of your time and you can expect to build skills and qualifications along the way. We’ll help connect you with other young people who want to create change in their local community as well, so you’ll have the chance to meet new people across the city who share the same interests as you do.

Once you’ve signed up, you can join a local group near you and get involved in one of our project groups. These are groups of young people who are working on researching issues, consulting with young people about them and campaigning for change. They normally meet once a month or so online and sometimes in person at a suitable community venue.

The whole council, including young people from right across the city, also meets four times a year as well to decide on what we think about an issue, and decide the priorities we will be working on.

If you’re interested in your local community, in having your say and you are keen to create change on something that’s important for you, then Glasgow Youth Council is for you!

So, what are you waiting for? Visit our site and sign up!

I believe that I have had the training and support I need to build my skills up. I get a lot of support to make changes in my community and hope to be successful in changing things for the better. Young people in my area are really enthusiastic about change and want to get involved

The best way to get involved is to visit our website and follow the link to our registration form. Please register as a Glasgow Youth Councillor and we will be in touch to discuss how to get started.

If you’re not ready to sign up yet, then you can always drop us an e-mail at youth@glasgowlife.org.uk and one of the team will be in touch to have an informal discussion with you about whether this is the right programme for you!
