Greener Duns

Greener Duns is a collection of like-minded individuals aiming to drive action that improves the shared environment in Duns and the district.

They want to inspire enduring change in the way people live, their environmental impact and the way they engage with and manage the town and surrounding areas.

As an apolitical organisation, its aim is to generate interest in sustainable action, to create momentum, and to inspire more people from all backgrounds to take actions that improve the natural world in their local area.

Green Duns Mission Statement

To halt and reverse environmental degradation and depletion of natural resources, nurture the earth’s ecological and cultural diversity, and help nurture sustainable practices in the Duns and district area.

The purposes of the organisation as defined by their constitution are:

  1. Encourage the development of a more circular economy focusing on reducing, repairing, re-using and recycling resources.
  2. Improve air quality and reduce carbon emissions associated with transport and travel, including encouraging more active travel.
  3. Support efforts to improve biodiversity, protect nature and expand accessible green spaces.
  4. Support the development of more sustainable food systems.
  5. Help and collaborate with others to develop more sustainable energy use in buildings.
  6. Educate and influence the community in sustainable activities.
