Matthew Gordon MSYP for Glasgow Kelvin
Hi! I’m Matthew. I wanted to become an MSYP because together we can make incredible change: Kelvin is such a great place, but we are in major need of change: our schools are crumbling, and our community centres have lay unused and underfunded for far too long. We deserve change – we deserve better. We can be part of real change for everyone: we can put our communities back together with the help of fair funding for our community centres, we can build an education system that actually works for us, and we can make Scotland a fairer, more inclusive place.
What do you want to achieve as an MSYP
I’m always available on social media or through email, but I also pledge to hold monthly online meetings so that you can all voice your views. As well, you will be front and centre in the campaigning I will do – I will host focus groups in our local schools and clubs – and you can take part in any online surveys on the topics that affect you. If you have any ideas about our community, please come and see me – it might be the next big thing! Together we can make our communities a better place for all of us.
What are three important issues you’re passionate about?
I’m most passionate about Education and Lifelong Learning, Transport, and Sport and Leisure. Education is an issue close to my heart because I believe it is such a vital part of our lives: it really can make or break us. I also believe there are a lot of ways we can improve education, and we need to make it actually work for our future.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself
I’m a big football fan – I play for a local team and went to Germany for the Euros.
