The projects in this area are:
1st Bridge of Weir Scout Group – ‘Tomahawk Throwing ’
Tomahawk Axe Throwing teaches so much more than chucking an axe at a bit of wood. It is an accessible sport which is lots of fun, builds confidence, patience and resilience. We will be able to offer our young people the chance to become proficient at it rather than just trying it once.
1st Lochwinnoch Boys Brigade – ‘Support for activities & accommodation costs’
We have around 30 boys attending on a weekly basis during school term times. We hope to be able to concentrate less on fundraising and more on face to face activities with the young people. We hope that this will attract new members and help to retain existing members. If they are in membership and attending our weekly meetings it will help us to address all of the priorities within the Celebrating Renfrewshire 2024/25 programme.
1st Lochwinnoch Girls’ Brigade – ‘Girls: Doing it for themselves.’
Girls: Doing it for themselves. We’re planning to … plan, organise and adventure together! Try a mix & match 8 week programme of new sports and physical activities: curling; climbing; aqua aerobics; roller skating; horse riding; ice skating; running and pilates. Also expand our minds with educational and cultural visits to Edinburgh, Blair Drummond Safari Park and the theatre.
Fèis Phàislig – ‘Fèis Phàislig 2025: Music, Community & Connection’
Fèis Phàislig: Music, Community & Connection is a free project for young
people aged 12–25 across Renfrewshire. It includes live music performances in high schools, hands-on workshops in local venues, and ceilidh events where you can watch, play, or take part. Whether you’re trying an instrument for the first time or just want to experience great live music from young performers, there’s something for everyone.
Friends of Howwood Park – ‘Howwood Park Junior Football Training and Match Support’
Our project is to enhance the junior football team experience at Howwood Park by providing training equipment, pitch maintenance and use of the Pavilion.
I Am Me – ‘I Am Me’
I Am Me Scotland has been working with various groups of young people over the past year to develop Child Exploitation Awareness resources, known as “You Are Not Alone” (YANA). We plan to continue working with young people in Renfrewshire to design and develop resources that raise awareness of child exploitation. Young people possess valuable insights into the issues within their local areas and will play a crucial role in shaping educational resources. These resources will become part of the YANA package, which will be made available to other local authorities throughout Scotland, putting Renfrewshire on the map. Additionally, we aim to engage young people in your area to deliver a comprehensive campaign, including a play that will be performed in high schools to raise awareness of child sexual exploitation. This initiative will include workshops, providing young people with the opportunity to influence and shape the campaign moving forward.
Lamont Farm Project – ‘Lamont Farm Education Project’
Lamont Farm Project will provide young people with an education and experience with animals that they will not be able to experience anywhere else, through workshops, work experience, placements and our junior volunteering roles and we will support young people participating in awards such as Duke of Edinburgh and Saltire schemes. We will make working with and experiencing animals accessible to all either on site here or through outreach.
Renfrew Town Sea Scouts – ‘Project Minibus’
Renfrew Sea Scouts are in need of a new minibus to transport members to the outdoor activities operated by the group. A new minibus offers an economical and environmentally friendly way to transport our members to activities that offer social, mental and physical development opportunities. Our bus would be available to other groups in the district, thus the impact on young people will be felt by more than our own organisation.
Renfrew Town Sea Scouts – ‘Project Waterskills’
Renfrew Sea Scouts offer water activities at Castle Semple Loch to young people from all over the district. Young leaders (18 – 25) train Scouts and Explorers (10-16) in activities. We offer governing body certified courses via weekly training, allowing participants to experience all aspects of watersports. Our activities instil physical and mental life skills in our members and keep the heritage of the Clyde alive in each new generation.
Renfrewshire Youth Voice – ‘Positive About Youth Awards’
Every year, we host the Positive About Youth Awards – a brilliant night that shines a spotlight on amazing young people from across Renfrewshire. Anyone can nominate a young person they think deserves recognition, which means we hear about all kinds of inspiring work happening across our communities – from volunteering and helping others, to sporting achievements, creative talents and much more. The awards night itself is a proper celebration, with over 150 guests – including nominees, winners, runners-up and their supporters – all coming together for an unforgettable evening. It’s a chance to dress up, celebrate success, and be recognised for the incredible things young people are doing. It’s always a positive and empowering experience, and a reminder of just how much young people are achieving right here in Renfrewshire.
Renfrewshire Youth Voice – ‘Band Nights’
We’re planning to organise two Band Nights with RYV – one in the summer and one for Halloween – and we’re really excited about it! These nights are all about giving young people, like us, a safe and fun space to hang out, enjoy live music, and support each other.
St Mirren Youth Football Club – ‘St Mirren YFC – To the Next Level!’
We’re a local football club creating fun, inclusive spaces for young people to play, train, and grow through sport. With this funding, we’ll provide new kit, better equipment, and training for our coaches—helping every player feel part of the team, develop their skills, and enjoy the game in a safe, supportive environment.
Strathgryffe Tennis, Squash & Fitness Club – ‘Strathgryffe Tennis in the Community’
Strathgryffe tennis in the community. A programme which offers free tennis coaching for Secondry school children as well as training and mentoring opportinities for school students looking to work in sport. The programme will run for 9 months and aims to teach primary aged children how to play the game of tennis in a school setting, as well as developing young secondary school leaders who will be given practical experince of leadership in sport.
The Renfrewshire Toy Bank – ‘The Renfrewshire Toy Bank – Christmas Appeal 2025’
We will provide children and young people living in Renfrewshire with gift packages at Christmas via a referral system. We aim to provide younger children with books, soft toys, arts and crafts, board games, clothing, toys and sweets. We would also hope to provide all young people ages 12+ with a gift card, enabling cinema trips, coffee with friends or giving the gift of being able to go shopping for themselves. Working in partnership with social work, local schools and nurseries, health care organisations, grass route organisations as well as various local charities we aim to reach as many children and young people as possible ensuring we reach those who are care experienced. Last year (2024) we distributed 3,044 gift packages and 596 teenagers also received gift cards and hope to be able to do the same in 2025.
Who Cares? Scotland – ‘Who Cares Scotland Care Experienced Groups-(The Diamonds and The Chill Out and The Drop In)’
Who Cares? Scotland is an organisation that care experienced people can join. Young people in care in Renfrewshire come for fun, make friends, try new things and talk about issues that affect them. They share that being in care can make them feel different so our group is a safe space to belong, with others who understand. We provide a lift for families without transport and provide food. Children get a chance to try hobbies, go trips and share worries that they might not share with others. We want Care Experienced people to have equality, respect and love like everyone else!
