Get Involved in Seachdain na Gàidhlig (World Gaelic Week)

Seachdain na Gàidhlig is a week of celebration of Scottish Gaelic that takes place every year.

Here you can learn what it’s about and how to get involved.

What is Seachdain na Gàidhlig?

Seachdain na Gàidhlig or World Gaelic Week is a celebration of the Scottish Gaelic Language that takes place each year across Scotland. It looks to promote Gaelic for fluent speakers, learners and even people who want to start learning.

This is done through both official events and events run by the community, some of which are even free!

There are similar weeks of celebration for Gaelic in other countries! Seachdain na Gaeilge is held in Ireland and Mìos nan Gàidheal takes place in Nova Scotia.

How can I get involved?

Seachdain na Gàidhlig 2025 will be held from 24 February – 2 March, you can find out more about it on their website!

Events for the rest of the year can be found on the Cleachdi events page. Cleachdi can be used all year round to find Gaelic events near you if you are keen to join in before or after Gaelic week!

You can also keep up to date with Seachdain na Gàidhlig from their Instagram to remind you of the dates for this year or the next.

We cover a range of content in Gaelic over the year and during Seachdain na Gàidhlig, you can find this by following our Instagram and TikTok.

If you can’t wait until next year why not take a look at these videos from this years World Gaelic Week where we also had Choirstaidh on our This is How AyeFeel podcast, be sure to leave a like and comment!

@young.scot In the second episode of our new This is How AyeFeel podcast, @Katy J talks to @🌸choirstaidh iona🌿 she/they about everything Gaelic, tackling grief and seeking out therapy.
