Youth Community Support Center

YCSA is a Scottish Charity first registered in 1997, based in Glasgow’s Southside. Our work challenges discrimination and aims to influence policy and practice in relation to youth. Through a range of services YCSA helps BME, asylum and refugee young people, aged 7 – 25 embrace their potential to become active and valued members of our diverse society, developing the skills and leadership abilities to succeed in life. We also provide support to parents of young people.

YCSA provides a range of services and activities for black and minority ethnic and asylum seeker and refugee young people aged 10-25 years old.
Healthy Young Minds is a project organized by YCSA and funded by Comic Relief. The project is aimed at promoting mental health and resilience, by providing art therapy and groupwork in partner schools and from our offices. A particular emphasis will be placed on transitions from Primary to Secondary school & tackling discrimination by celebrating the right to be different.
Safe to Grow’ (STG) is a Programme funded by the National Lottery Community Fund and The Robertson Trust. This Programme aims to relieve symptoms of trauma, promote mental wellbeing, and decrease isolation, for 16-25 year-old asylum seekers and refugees.
YPF is a Glasgow City Council Funded Project The project is also supported by other short term / Activity specific Funding. The project works with Black & Ethnic Minority Young People (Aged 10yrs – 25yrs) with a specific focus on Pollokshields & Govanhill. We also work with the Roma Community within schools in the Pollokshields & Govanhill area. This Includes General Youth Work Activities From: Young Men & Women’s Groups, Youth Clubs, Campfire Sessions to sporting & creative Activities. We also Run & Support Holiday Programme & Specific Thematic programmer e.g. Fireworks Prevention, Drugs Education

Some feedback from young people reported that they felt ‘nervous’, ‘confused’ and ‘excited’ at the beginning of the workshop. After attending they stated they felt ‘happy’, ‘positive’ and felt that they had gained more knowledge surrounding anti-racism.
