The Play Barn – Braidwood and Carstairs

We have an action packed Summer programme at the Playbarn Out of School Care – Please see attached programme for full details.

We alternate the venues on a weekly basis between the two OSC settings, Carstairs Junction, Lanark and Braidwood, Carluke (8 miles apart), which have registered capacity for 40 and 60 children respectively. We also offer (free) pick ups at 8am each morning and returning at 5:15 from the venue not being used to help parents out.

We are available and registered to care for primary school aged children, and are permitted by the Care Inspectorate to offer a limited number of spaces over the Summer holidays for children who are about to enter P1 as well as children who are in S1 and S2 at high school.

Our service is available from 7am till 7pm throughout the holidays and we have a minimum staff ratio of 1 to every 8 children.

Our fees are:

*£7.00 per hour for a short stay

*£27 for any 6 hour session

*£38 for a full day (8+ hours)

As a registered Care Service, parents/carers may be entitled to help towards the costs

1) For those on Universal Credit (UC), then 85% of the costs can be reclaimed and for those claiming childcare costs for the first time, the upfront costs are paid directly from DWP

2) For those not receiving UC, then they can pay through the UK Gov tax free childcare scheme were for every £80 paid the government make it up to £100.

3) Childcare Vouchers – for those parents who are historically registered to use this method they are still able to continue using this method to reduce the cost of fees in a tax efficient way.
