Whether your results are better, worse, or just different from what you expected, you’re not on your own. There’s support available to help you figure out your next steps.
You can talk through your options with a careers adviser by calling the Skills Development Scotland (SDS) Results Helpline on 0808 100 8000. The Results Helpline is free to call and is open from 8am on Tuesday 5 August 2025.
Some things you could call the Helpline about are:
- College or university options
- Clearing and UCAS choices
- Apprenticeships and other jobs
- Volunteering or training
- Staying on at school
Whatever you’re thinking about, the advisers will help you explore your options and feel more confident about what comes next. They’re there to give honest, impartial advice – no pressure, just support.
And it’s not just for young people; parents and carers can call too, for ways on how best to support you.
T.J., a student from Inverclyde, called the Helpline after a tough results day:
I was nervous about my results, which weren’t what I expected, so I called the Results Helpline to ask questions about my options and the appeals system.
That one call helped T.J. move forward and get the right support in school to work towards his goal of a career in sport.
The adviser was really helpful and after we spoke I felt much better and knew what I needed to do.
If you’d rather speak to someone face-to-face, you can:
- Visit your local SDS careers centre or a community venue
- Speak to your SDS school careers adviser
- Head to My World of Work for career tools, advice and info anytime
Make sure to check out My World of Work on Instagram and Tiktok too for guidance and inspiration on what’s next.
No matter what your results say, this is just one part of your journey. There are loads of ways to reach your goals, and plenty of support to help you get there.
