YFCL Lanark’s Primary 7 group is a long running and well attended transition group aimed at all P7 young people in the surrounding area.
The main purpose of the group is to raise self esteem and confidence by offering young people a drop in where they can meet with other young people in P7 from the surrounding schools in Lanark. This helps to develop friendships and good relationships with staff and help ease the transition from Primary to secondary school.
The group is given the opportunity to have their say on what activities they would like to participate in whilst attending by having a planning meeting at the start of each new term in order to keep it fresh. Staff then co-create this programme and the young people always have a choice in whether they participate or not. We provide a safe meeting place and encourage the young people to take part in constructive and beneficial social activities. We celebrate at the end of every term with our Prom to make life long memories.
