Jargon Buster in Stay Safe
Do you work with young people? This information will help you understand what people you may be working with are talking about.
Like everyone else, people who work together to protect children and young people use language that can be confusing. If you don't understand what people are saying, ask them to explain.
But here is a quick guide:
IRD - Initial Referral Discussion. The first meeting that is held when someone has raised concerns about the safety of a child or young person. This meeting will decide what to do - it might lead to a CPI
CPI - Child Protection Inquiry. After a CPI that a CPCC might be held
CPCC (or Case Conference) - Child Protection Case Conference. During a CPCC a decision can be made to place a persons name on the CPR
CPR - Child Protection Register.
LACR - Looked After Children Review. Whenever a child or young person has to stay away from home, regular meetings are held to make sure that everything that should be happening is. This is to check that everyone is doing what they need to be doing to make sure the young person is okay and you can get home as quickly as possible.
