Volunteer with Raleigh in a summer of action in Scotland!

Raleigh is looking for 200 volunteers aged 18-24 to join the Re:Green project.

About Re:Green

Re:Green aims to rewild, reforest and restore Scotland's rainforest. Scotland's rainforest only has 30,000 square hectares remaining. Raleigh is looking for passionate young people to work with the Alliance for Scotland's Rainforest and help Re:Green one of the UK's most precious habitats.

The roles 

Become a conservationist:

  • Volunteer on the frontline¬†
  • Take on essential work to conserve and restore the Scottish rainforest and other ancient woodlands
  • Support the removal of invasive plant species, restoration, rewilding green spaces, tree planting, reforestation, trail maintenance, and habitat and wildlife monitoring

Become a Climate Campaigner:

  • Learn more about sustainability and environmental action in the UK with the crash course on climate campaigning
  • Gain the base knowledge that you'll need to conserve our natural world¬†
  • Develop a strong grounding in environmental action¬†
  • This role comes with an opportunity to be enrolled into Raleigh's International Climate Campaign - Action Not Excuses¬†

Take on the Youth Leadership Challenge:

  • Take on some of the UK's most challenging but beautiful terrains on an 11-day remote trek, wild camping in the Scottish Highlands¬†
  • Learn essential skills in leadership, teamwork, planning, problem-solving, and resilience with your fellow team of young volunteers.¬†

2-week program (not including the youth leadership team)

  • 17th July - 30th July. Application deadline June 3rd.¬†
  • 4th September - 17th September. Application deadline July 22nd
  • 18th September - 1st October. Application deadline August 4th
  • 30th October - 12th November. Application deadline September 16th

The Young & Green Fund

Raleigh have The Young & Green Fund which is committed to helping 25 young people, aged 18-24, join the programme by offering a reduced fundraising target. The Young & Green Fund is offered on a first come first serve basis.

The Young & Green Fund is now open to all young people in Scotland aged 18 - 24!

Apply to the Young & Green Fund by 17th June.

Fundraising

If you aren't eligible for the Young and Green Fund, you can still apply to be part of Re:Green. Participants are expected to raise money for their trips, find out more below.

2-week programme 

  • fundraising target of ¬£1,095 (¬£875 if you're amongst the first 100 sign-ups)

4-week programme 

  • fundraising target of ¬£1,995 (¬£1,595 if you're amongst the first 100 sign-ups)

This will include your food, accommodation, transport throughout the programme, project and safety equipment. 

This will not include your travel to and from the Re:Green or personal kit.

Apply for the Young & Green fund to receive a further discount on your fundraising target.

Once a volunteer submits their application they will receive an invitation to join Raleigh's online learning platform called MyRaleigh. This provides lots of information about fundraising including links to blogs on fundraising, videos of successful fundraising from past volunteers and a Fundraising Guide. Volunteers will also be connected with the Volunteer Journey Team at Raleigh who will be able to support you with advice, tips and materials so that you can reach your target.

If you apply to be a volunteer, you can also enter to win a Duke of Edinburgh approved Vango backpack. You'll receive your points code in an email from Raleigh after you submit your application. Redeem your points and you will automatically be entered into the prize draw.
