The Youth Volunteering Legacy Group are hosting their first Volunteering Summit for young people, youth workers and organisations across Scotland. We’re inviting young people to come along to this event to have their voices heard on volunteering within Scotland and what needs to change!
The summit will be an opportunity for young people to get to know staff from various youth and voluntary organisations, get involved in collaborative activities and hear about the volunteering journeys and experiences of young people.
By attending the event, you will contribute to creating systematic change within voluntary organisations, pushing the sector to do better.
This project is in partnership with YouthLink Scotland, the #IWill Movement, Project Scotland and the Scottish Government.

Who are the Youth Volunteering Legacy Group?
The Youth Volunteering Legacy Group was set up recently as a continuum from the Youth Volunteering Innovation Project (Youth VIP) back in 2018. The eighteen young people in the group are overseeing some of the Youth VIP’s thirteen recommendations – with the Volunteering Summit being one of them!
The group have been meeting fortnightly to plan and co-design the Summit with both #YSHive and YouthLink Scotland. They are hoping to improve volunteering for young people in Scotland and support voluntary organisations in creating better opportunities.
What will I get from attending?
You will have the chance to meet like-minded people and develop friendships with young people across Scotland. You will also learn more about the voluntary sector, meet representatives from various voluntary organisations and learn about the different opportunities out there!
We will provide out of school letters for you to attend this event, as well as a £10 Love2shop food voucher.
Participating in a Young Scot session
Taking part in one of these sessions means you will be joining a supportive and inclusive team, with opportunities to have your voice heard around issues that are important to you and meet new people from across Scotland.
No special experience or skills are necessary to take part, and you don’t need to know anything about the wider work of Young Scot or the Young Person’s Guarantee. You don’t need to have any previous experience volunteering either!
Dedicated staff members at Young Scot will support you to take part.
We are happy to make reasonable adjustments to enable all young people to take part, and there will be an opportunity when you register sign-up to tell us about any support or adjustments you need to contribute fully.
We will ensure we are a safe and trusted place for you to participate. We do not accept any form of discrimination or prejudice to anyone on our volunteering projects based on your life experience, background, culture, or identity. This includes age, disability, gender identity, parenting and caring responsibilities, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation.
