Young Scot, Children in Scotland and The Scottish Government want to work with a group of children and young people to take the lead in helping to promote their rights and shape the way Scotland understands and supports the rights of the child.
In November 2019 it will also be the 30th anniversary of the UNCRC being created so this is a fantastic time to get involved with this exciting project! That's why we're recruiting volunteers for #ActivateYourRights - a children and young people’s rights team that will help promote the The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) for children and young people in Scotland.
- Excited by the chance to help promote the UNCRC for children and young people?
- Passionate about engaging with other young people and organisations across Scotland?
- Buzzing with ideas about how children and young people in Scotland can raise awareness of their rights?
If that’s you, why not join the #ActivateYourRights Team?
What will you do?
You'll be responsible for helping explore rights-based issues and topics that are important for children and young people, to create a package of trusted, high-quality resources and tools to help promote the rights of children and young people.
You'll also work with Young Scot and Children in Scotland to help shape the way Scotland understands and supports the rights of children and young people.
Who are we looking for?
If you're aged 8-18, we’d love to hear from you.
We want you to tell us how we can promote children and young people’s rights, how we can do it better and what else we need to do to encourage more people to participate in discussing their rights.
No previous experience or knowledge is needed to apply!
How long is the project?
You'll be asked to join the panel for six months to start with, and can choose to continue for longer if you like.
The #ActivateYourRights panel is currently going to run for just under a year.
What will you get?
Places on the team are voluntary, but travel expenses and accommodation where necessary will be covered.
Training and support throughout the process will also be provided, including access to a Young Scot or Children in Scotland staff member to support you at all times.
- Boost your CV as a member of #ActivateYourRights
- Receive training to support you in your role as a team member
- Increase your confidence, your communications skills and be empowered to challenge decision makers
- Challenge yourself to be innovative and create brilliant ideas
- Meet new people, and maybe make friends for life!
If you'd like to apply to be on the #ActivateYourRights Team, you can apply online through SurveyGizmo, or by filling in the embedded application form below.
The closing date for applications is Monday 23rd September 2019.
