Volunteer to Become a Befriender with the Move On Support Service

Move On is looking for Befrienders to support young people in Edinburgh who have experienced homelessness.

Who can take part?

Befrienders can be anyone (aged 18+) who wants to work with young people in the community to help them achieve their goals.

Move On are looking for Befrienders who are

  • friendly,
  • non-judgemental, and
  • have good communication skills.

Volunteers don’t need to have any experience as Move On provide full training.

What do Befrienders do?

Volunteer Befrienders support young people for up to six months to work towards personal goals such as building confidence, learning about healthy living, working on communication skills and finding out about the area they now live in.

Activities that Befrienders participate in include:

  • renting bikes,
  • meeting for coffee,
  • going to the cinema,
  • golf,
  • etc.

Volunteering with the Move On Support Service is a great way to learn new skills, meet amazing people and help your local community.
