EIFF Youth New Visions Short Film Competition

EIFF Youth New Visions Short Film Competition returns this year, with the same dedicated purpose - to discover the newest voices in Scottish film and bring their visions to the global stage. Now open for entries from filmmakers aged 15 – 25 years old.

The competition is FREE to enter and is open to young people aged 15 to 25 who reside in Scotland. Films must have been completed after June 2019, not exceed 15 minutes running time and be Scottish premieres. There is no theme for the competition and films of all genres including animation and documentary are accepted. Films made within an educational setting are accepted with permission from your educational establishment.

All submissions will be reviewed by EIFF’s Youth Advisory Group, who will curate a shortlist of films to be screened at EIFF in June 2020. A panel of judges - made up of film industry professionals - will watch the shortlisted films and give out two New Visions Awards, one for the age category 15-18 and one for the age category 19-25. The Awards will be announced on 28 June 2020. Each award comes with a cash prize of £300.

For more information on submissions requirements and how to enter visit the website or get in touch via newvisions@edfilmfest.org.uk

Finalists will be invited to attend the public screening at Edinburgh International Film Festival in Edinburgh in June 2020. Bursaries will be available to cover travel and subsistence costs for filmmakers from further afield.

We value diversity, promote equality and challenge discrimination. We encourage and welcome applications from young people from all backgrounds.

Deadline for submissions: Friday 17th April 2020 at 5pm.

(Please remember that you can send your films to us before this date if they are ready!)
