Passionate about film? Aged 15-19? Volunteer with Filmhouse Edinburgh and become a Young Programmer, with opportunities to get involved with the Edinburgh International Film Festival.
What is a Young Programmer?
Young Programmers are a group of 15 to 19 year olds with a real passion for film! Meeting weekly, together they curate films for Filmhouse and for the Edinburgh International Film Festival, and co design the programme, the promotion and the delivery of their screening events.
Young Programmers meet at Filmhouse, Edinburgh, every Monday from 4.15pm to 6.15pm, mid-September to April, and for the twelve days of the Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) at the end of June. They watch and discuss a wide range of films and learn about film programming. Young Programmers select films to show at Filmhouse for a special weekend in February and curate their own 90 minute programme of short films for EIFF.
This is a really exciting opportunity to work as part of the Filmhouse and EIFF team to present exciting new cinema to other young people!
Previous Young Programmers have written copy for Festival publications, hosted Q&As with visiting filmmakers and worked as part of a team to host exciting events. All participants have an opportunity to meet filmmakers and industry professionals. In return, we ask participants to show commitment and enthusiasm.
