What is The Sandy Watson Memorial Fund?
As a legacy from Year of Young People 2018, and after the success of last year’s fund, Young Scot has re-opened The Sandy Watson Memorial Fund where young Scot cardholders can apply for £250-£1000 to support their idea. The Sandy Watson Memorial Fund is open to individuals and groups of young people from across Scotland aged 11-26 who have an idea to drive change or develop with a focus on mental health or the arts. This fund will support projects, personal development and community support with a focus on either of these themes; this could be anything from a course to support you with your career goals, to activity you want to host in your local youth group.
The Young Scot Sandy Watson Memorial Fund is in place to support young Scots in memory of the late Sandy Watson OBE, the former CEO of Angus Council and Chair of NHS Tayside, who committed many years of service to the Young Scot Board. Sandy’s belief and commitment to all that young people can achieve in their communities reflects the objectives of this fund, to benefit the development of young people themselves, and of their communities.
This is a chance for you to really make a difference in your community and to drive change with a focus on mental health or the arts! By applying to the Sandy Watson Memorial Fund you can lead your own event, project or idea!
Great! We can't wait to hear about your idea.
The application form also includes some handy Guidance Notes which is full of information about the fund and how to apply. This can be found at the bottom of this page under Attachments.
Once you have read the Guidance Notes you can complete your application form to tell us all about your idea! The form must clearly be completed by young people, however applications may be filled in with the support of a worker where additional support is required. You can also submit your idea in an alternative way, such as a video or audio recording.
