‘Island Voices’ is a new Western Isles youth forum set up by young people during lockdown and supported by the Comhairle’s CLD staff. The ‘Island Voices’ forum aims to discuss issues which affect young people, both locally and nationally, and to work together to find ways to improve the lives of young people across the Western Isles.
‘Island Voices’, a group of young people aged 12 to 26, continues to meet virtually once a month. At their November meeting the forum put forward the idea of inviting guests to discuss important issues further. As education is such a significant part of young people’s lives, a Q&A session with school and college representatives was suggested.
‘Island Voices’ have had a great response to their request to join the Q&A and the forum are delighted that representatives from Lews Castle College and all of the islands’ secondary schools will be in (virtual) attendance to answer questions.
‘Island Voices’ would like ask young people from across the islands for their input to the Q&A on education. Questions can be submitted here: https://bit.ly/IslandVoices_Education
The ‘Island Voices’ Education Q&A is planned for Tuesday 1st December and the responses to all questions answered will be posted on social media soon after the event. The forum will endeavour to put as many questions as possible to the education representatives.
