The projects that have applied for money are:
Idea 1.Linnvale MUGA
We would like to see the introduction of a MUGA (multi use gym area) for the children in our Linnvale area. As it stands children over primary school age have nothing to do in the area. By providing for our older kids, anti-social behaviour will be reduced dramatically and also invest in our community’s future by giving our children an outdoor all year round facility that they can be proud of.
According to WDC officers the approximate cost of this project would be £80,000-£100,000.
Idea 2 More sustainable lighting in Lusset Glen.
More sustainable lighting options to encourage use of Lusset Glen.
According to WDC officers the approximate cost of this project would be £30,000
Idea 3 Improvements to pavements along Barns St & East Barns S
Improvements to pavements along Barns St & East Barns St to make it more accessible for wheelchairs & pram users.
According to WDC officers the approximate cost of this project would be £100,000
Idea 4. Improvements to Hardgate Knowes
To enhance the footpath on Hardgate Knowes from the back of the shops at Hardgate to Craigs Avenue. Partially reroute the path to avoid steps that are currently there. There is an alternative route that runs below the existing pathway which is now overgrown which could be a more suitable way of access with less gradient. Maintenance would be also be beneficial to the area of land which is owned by the Council located to the rear of Whitehills Hotel. This would enhance the appearance of the wider area within Hardgate Knowes. Rerouting the path to avoid steps would increase accessibility to wheelchair users, those with prams or those with other mobility issues. The path is used quite heavily and is a popular resource in the local community and could be part of the Clyde Coastal Path. There is also proposed plans for a new school campus at Faifley Road. Improving pathways in Hardgate Knowes would encourage sustainable methods of travel (e.g. walking, cycling) to the new school and other amenities in the local community.
According to WDC officers the approximate cost of this project would be £40,000
Idea 5.Improvements to Breval Park
Breval park in Duntocher has very limited facilities. The football area is not suitable in winter weather. Astro style pitches would be better suited – similar to what is available at Levengrove Park pitch. Improving these facilities would mean that more families would be able to use the park without the need for travel.
According to WDC officers the approximate cost of this project would be £80,000
Idea 6. More sheltered / secure bike racks in Duntocher area.
WDC officers have advised that the approximate cost of one of these bike racks would be £2,600 which facilitates 10 bikes. If successful this idea could be escalated throughout the Clydebank Area on land owned by WDC.
