Three Steps To Registering For A Dentist

Need to register with a dentist? Here’s some information on how to do it.

Everyone in Scotland aged 25 and under gets free NHS dental treatment.

1. Find an NHS dentist

Find your local dentist and ask if they are taking on any new NHS patients, as not all dentists provide NHS treatment. Private dentists will be more expensive than NHS ones.?

2. Register and get a check-up

If a dentist agrees to accept you as an NHS patient, they will: ask for some information about you, for example your name and address. They’ll also ask you to sign a form to register and arrange a dental check-up for you. This could either happen on the day you register or they could book an appointment for you at a later point.

3. Ask about prices

If you need further treatment after your check-up you should ask to talk about prices. Remember if you are under 25 you shouldn’t have to pay for any treatment you receive and if you are pregnant treatment should also be free. You can also get help with costs if you are on certain benefits, but the best thing to do is to ask.
