Week 38 (23 Sept) - Dominic, 16, Troon

Dominic, 16, Troon

What is your best memory of growing up in South Ayrshire?

I enjoyed primary school/being involved with other schools in the cluster. Plus things like wintertainment were fun!

Tell us about your aspirations / goals?

I’d like to go to university, receive a degree in something (probably a language) and go on to teach English as a foreign language abroad.

What are your biggest achievements?

Overcoming my fear of public-speaking (achieved thanks to my place in the MH group at Marr.)

What makes you proud to be a young person living in South Ayrshire?

Our community spirit and all the activities/events that go on and are provided for (young) people in Troon.

If you were to pass on a message to other young people, what would your message be?

Take advantage of the community that you’re a part of. Go to the town’s events (live @ troon etc.) and meet new people. Your friends will change over time so take advantage and get out there and meet people. Don’t hide yourself.

If you could have a dinner party with a celebrity, who would it be and why?

Dwayne ‘the rock’ Johnson because a) I love a lot of his movies and b) because he’s spoken publically about his mental health problems and I’m intrigued by what he has to say.
