Jenny, 16, Girvan
What is your best memory of growing up in South Ayrshire?
My best memory has to be rock pooling with my family – we have such a beautiful coast here in Girvan and I’ve always really enjoyed exploring it!
Tell us about your aspirations/goals?
I’d really like to do more work with young people, especially young people with additional support needs. I would also love to travel and get involved with conservation projects in the Maldives.
What are your biggest achievements?
When I was 14, I started volunteering in my local community. After volunteering over 500 hours of my time, I was encouraged to apply for a job as a Sports Coach – I got the job! I have now started my own volleyball club which I hope will encourage other young people to take part in sport..
What makes you proud to be a young person living in South Ayrshire?
There are lots of opportunities available to young people who live in Girvan now – I’m really proud that I’ve played a part in making that happen.
If you were to pass on a message to other young people, what would your message be?
Don’t be afraid to try new things. Start small, you can achieve anything you want if you just put in the work.
If you could have a dinner party with a celebrity, who would it be and why?
I’d like to go to dinner with Lewis Capaldi – maybe he could write a song about me? Don’t think his banter is as good as mine though…
