Support for Young Carers in Renfrewshire
A Young Carer is an ordinary young person aged 8-18 years old who helps to look after someone with a mental health problem, physical illness, disability and/or drug/alcohol/gambling addiction.
A Young Carer may help by:
- Doing housework
- Collecting and assisting with medication
- Looking after younger brothers and sisters...collecting them from school, doing their homework with them etc
- Listening to worries
- Attending to the cared for person's needs
Also through all of this, they will also be taking care of themselves, growing up and facing everyday life.
hance for young carers to get time out from their caring role, have fun and meet other young people who live in a similar situation through group support.
