Largs North Ayrshire Sports Academy pupils

Theme: 1) Health & Wellbeing

Applying For: £1000

The NA Sports Academy leaders and Active schools have been working together continuously on a range of Health and wellbeing programmes which concentrate on making sure pupils get a chance at trying different types of activity within both primary and secondary schools, learn about a fun healthy lifestyle in sport. They would like funding to help to continue on the sporting opportunities and extra-curricular clubs offered in the schools. The staff and pupils in the Largs cluster work very hard before, during and after school throughout the year to create opportunities in a range of sports for all schools.

 

 

Largs Youth Theatre

Theme: 1) Health & Wellbeing

Applying For: £1000

Largs Youth Theatre would like to create, develop, rehearse and perform and online, virtual show which can be viewed by our students, parents/ carers and the wider North Ayrshire community. We would use this event to promote our activities for young people and to develop their confidence and self-esteem.

 

 

North Coast Youth Forum

Theme: 3) Voice & Participation

Applying For: £1000

Our project involves getting promotional material that we can use to increase awareness of the group. We would like £1000 to get hoodies for the group members, pull up banners for use at any fun/ information days we run and stylish pens to give away to the public. All of these will help increase our public awareness, giving the group a good foundation in the community and ultimately achieving our goal of getting young people’s voices heard.

 

 

Firth of Clyde Coastal Rowing Club

Theme: 1) Health & Wellbeing

Applying For: £1000

We are a small rowing club which participates in social and competitive rowing events mainly in Scotland but previously in Holland, Northern Ireland, and in the North of England. We have been in existence since 2011 and some of our equipment needs to be replaced. We require lifejackets to be used by young people. In addition, we require more VHF  radios to ensure safety standards for our crews. We have a scheduled regatta at Largs on 31 July 2021 which if it proceeds will attract a total of 10 skiffs and supporting crews in a range of age categories.

 

 

West Kilbride Community Intiative - Craft Town Scotland

Theme: 1) Health & Wellbeing

Applying For: £500

We will offer a half day printing experience to 40 young people to design and print their own creations. This may be a poster, advert, cards or zine. They will produce 10 finished copies each and will be offered follow up sessions in a drop in club over the weekends for a small fee. The workshops are appealing, instant and could be developed. We will be working in a Studio using Riso printing which is a Japanese model similar to screen printing. All materials are environmentally friendly, and the colour palette is contemporary offering fluorescent options and gold and silver.

 

 

Skelmorlie Youth Group

Applying For: £680

We are looking to provide 1 trip during the summer holidays. Over the last 10 months, we have all felt the pressures of Covid 19, no more than a group of young people from a rural area within North Ayrshire. We are planning to provide a trip over the summer holidays, to build confidence, face to face socialising and to tackle stress and anxiety. The purpose is for the young people to feel safe to return to the youth work setting the were accustomed to 10 months ago and continue with personal and social development.

 

 

Largs Viking Festival

Theme: 3) Voice & Participation

Applying For: £1000

We want to keep our local history alive by involving young people to take part in an engaging and exciting virtual resource that will be available to everyone. We are involved with The Ayrshire film company and re-enactment group The Swords of Dalrida, both based in Kilmarnock. We will use the money to recreate and film life in a 13th Century Viking Village, including workshops, living history, demonstrations and storytelling. We are all keen to involve young people who seek to develop skills in communication, media and encourage an interest in history.

 

 

SHOWWORKS THEATRE CIC

Theme: 3) Voice & Participation

Applying For: £980

We want £980 to create YOUNG COMPANY, a project to support the wellbeing of young people. Young people with a range of interests can participate, from acting, writing and music, to those interested in graphic design, business management and marketing. It will be free for ages 15-19 and bring together a collective of likeminded individuals to create an innovative digital or social-distanced theatre event for our local community. Nurtured by professionals, they will create and manage their own production, involving everyone in the decision-making process. A platform to voice ideas through creativity whilst developing lifelong skills.

 

 

Myc On the Move

Theme: 1) Health & Wellbeing

Applying For: £200 (This group is applying across all Localities for a share of £1000)

We are a partnership that will create packs for the most vulnerable and isolated young people in our community. Using the mobile youth centre to distribute these the packs will give young people tools and activities to help tackle isolation, mental health, employability skills and support digital connectivity.

 

 

North Ayrshire Youth Exec

Theme: 1) Health & Wellbeing

Applying For: £200 (This group is applying across all Localities for a share of £1000)

This money will be used to create localised and youth led 7 45 second short animated videos and standalone individual workshops to support and educate young people and professional to make informed decision about drugs and alcohol.

 

 

North Ayrshire Active Schools Young Ambassador Programme

Theme: 1) Health & Wellbeing

Applying For: £200 (This group is applying across all Localities for a share of £1000)

Our Young Ambassador Programme for all 9 secondaries in North Ayrshire would use this funding to provide t-shirts/ hoodies, whistles, stationary, reward stickers, chateez flashcards, medals, certificates, portable speakers and badges. Our YA programme intakes over 150 S2-S6’s pupils and trains them up to become YA’s within their own schools. A YA promotes sport and inspires pupils to take part in physical activity in their schools and local communities. Becoming a YA develops pupils’ self-esteem, creativity, confidence, organisation and communication skills. This programme is an amazing opportunity for our young people of North Ayrshire.

 

 

West Kilbride Delta

Theme: 1) Health & Wellbeing

Applying For: £1000

We provide free football for all within the defined age groups. This is regardless of sex, gender, footballing ability or physical disability. We would use the money to purchase kit for the 2011 and 2014 teams. This includes strips, balls (different sizes), a set of 7 and 4 a side goals

 

 

Adventure Scout Group

Applying For: £1000

We would like to purchase some new and replace some old camping equipment which will hopefully allow us to take our Adventure Scouts away during the 2021 Summer break.

 

 

Active Schools Dance North Ayrshire

Theme: 1) Health & Wellbeing

Applying For: £200 (This group is applying across all Localities for a share of £1000)

Dance North Ayrshire (DNA) has been created by the Active Schools team which aims to provide a range of free dance opportunities to young people across the whole of North Ayrshire. Dance is a popular sport within the schools and community. With this funding we would like to organise events on a localised level, support our qualified dance leaders in gaining experience, organise classes in a range of styles, specialised training workshops with skilled performers from within in the professional industry while making sure all these opportunities are accessible to the young people of all ages and stages.

 

 

Team Inspire

Theme: 3) Voice and Participation

Team Inspire is a group of North Ayrshire Sports Academy (NASA) graduates. We provide future graduates, children and young people with opportunities to be inspired and gain the skills to make a difference in their communities. We want develop our leadership skills by engaging in further learning which would enable us to support future participants of NASA. The team would like to purchase branded ki. This would encourage our successors to become part of the group whilst raising our profile, further enhancing our growth and making a recognisable impact as leaders in our communities.

 

 

The Friday Night Youth Club & Monday Night Fun Crew

Theme: 1) Health & Wellbeing

Applying For: £200 (This group is applying across all Localities for a share of £1000)

We will focus on health & wellbeing/keeping active - our clubs are for young people who have additional support needs and we want our attendees to be healthy, active and have the opportunity to socialise with their peers. To achieve this, we are planning additional support needs fun days for our groups which will include inflatable assault courses, games and activities. We also hope to have a petting zoo visit for therapeutic purposes and catering for the events.

 

 

North Ayrshire Ambition Agreement

Theme: 2) Poverty and Inequality

Applying For: £200 (This group is applying across all Localities for a share of £990)

The money will be used to purchase award booklets that focus on employability and wellbeing for the young people to complete. The resource also comes with access to the digital platform which is a crucial requirement in the current circumstances. The booklets are used for both group work and 1 to 1 keyworking. These booklets are SQA accredited awards that grant the young people SQA credits once they are completed.
