Arran Youth Foundations

Applying For: £1000

If successful, AYF would use funds to help run our youth work activities on the Isle of Arran: including cooking, girls’ football, guitar tuition, art psychotherapy, LGBT+ club and loads more. We would also provide one-off activities such as paintball, go-karting, abseiling, gorge-walking and so on.

Arran Junior Sailing Club

Theme: 1) Health & Wellbeing

Applying For: £1000

Arran Junior Sailing club would like to send ten of our older students on a seven-day expedition on a 70 ft tall ship from Oban around the Mull of Kintyre to Greenock with Ocean Youth Trust Scotland in August 2021. This team building and challenging experience would allow the ten young people to expand their sailing skills, explore Scotland and gain their Competent crew award which would help the young people transition into the future young leaders at the club.

Arran High School Mountain Bike Club

Theme: 1) Health & Wellbeing

Applying For: £1000

We would like to purchase essential safety parts for our fleet of twenty free to use mountain bikes. We need strong brake pads with good initial bite for the wet and muddy trails we cycle on to ensure the children and young people can stop within a safe distance. We would also like to purchase free-hubs for the same bikes which enable the wheel to spin without sucking the chain up into the frame and only engaging the pawls and drivetrain when pedalling therefore ensuring a safe and enjoyable bike ride.

Isle of Arran Junior Triathlon Club

Theme: 1) Health & Wellbeing

Applying For: £1000

Arran Junior Triathlon club gives local children age 7+ a chance to participate, train and compete in Triathlon disciplines. During the pandemic it has been very difficult to get access to a swimming pool for swim training. As an alternative we have been offering training opportunities with open water swimming sessions. We require extra equipment to be able to do this safely and to make the sessions enjoyable.

Whiting Bay Primary Parent Council

Theme: 1) Health & Wellbeing

Applying For: £1000

The children of Whiting Bay, Kildonan and the surrounding areas will benefit as we wish to invest in the grounds of Whiting Bay Primary School to give the children something to climb and play on. It will involve us doing work in the grounds and investing in a piece of trim trail apparatus. This equipment will provide much needed outdoor activity for the children and will boost their physical and mental health. This is critical for the children in the current climate.

Brodick Primary Parent Council

Theme: 1) Health & Wellbeing

Applying For: £1000

We are a parent council who would like £1000 to purchase items to promote health and wellbeing for our school children and their families following on from the effects of COVID and school closures.
