In 2020, the Young Scot Awards will turn 14 years old! That’s right, FOURTEEN - and they're all about coming together every year, and celebrating the achievements of young people across Scotland.
It all started back in 2006… and the rest, as they say, is history.
How it Started
So why did we decide to start the Young Scot Awards? And what has happened since 2006?
We realised that there were lots of different awards shows taking place in Scotland, celebrating people who had done fantastic things for their community, nationally and even globally. But there were no awards shows specifically for young people...
At Young Scot, we knew from working every day with young people that they were doing brilliant things…and so we decided that they deserved their own awards show too.
Since then, it’s still the only national awards ceremony celebrating Scotland’s young people.
And every year since 2006 it's got bigger and better!
Winners from past years have gone on to achieve even greater things – from becoming top athletes, famous musicians and stadium selling comedians to brilliant business owners, amazing activists and tech innovators.
Did you know that back-in-the-day Andy Murray, Paolo Nutini, Amy Macdonald, Karen Gillan, Martin Compston and Nina Nesbitt, were all previous Young Scot Award winners? Who will be next?
We are SO excited to be spending another year hearing the amazing stories of young people across Scotland and the countdown is officially ON!
