Six Ways to Relax on a Plane

Flying is quite a common phobia for many, but there are many things you can do to make yourself feel more at ease on a flight.

1. Sleep

If you find it quite difficult to settle down, bringing along a comfy neck pillow, ear plugs and an eye mask can do wonders to block out the surrounding noise and atmosphere.

2. Listen to Music

Before you leave for your holiday, make a soothing playlist of relaxing music or one for all your fave summer tunes. Young Scot have got Spotify Playlist you could use as a starting point! 

3. Watch Something

If you can't bring movies with you and you're on a long flight (like to America) there will often be TV's on the plane with all the latest releases! Alternatively, working your way through an entire season of your favourite TV series is also advised if you're able to bring a laptop.

4. Pamper Yourself

You might not have cucumber to hand for your eyes, unless you're happy to pose the slightly odd request to a flight attendant, but taking your make-up off if you wear it, letting your skin breathe and using a nice face mask and some decent moisturiser will make your skin and yourself feel much better!

5. Read a Good Book

Maybe there's a book you've been meaning to read for ages or you're re-reading a favourite series, but getting lost in someone else's world for an hour or more can be a pretty great distraction.

6. Play Games

Travel Scrabble and Monopoly were invented for this exact situation. You can often find travel versions of many popular board games, but failing that, bringing along pen and paper for a few games of MASH or Noughts & Crosses, or a deck of cards for Solitaire is ideal!
