- 1. Volunteer
Volunteering is a great way to meet like-minded people – if you're both volunteering for the same company, you probably care about the same things – which is a great way to spark a friendship! So whether it's animals or the elderly...
Plus, there's loads of other amazing reasons to volunteer.
- 2. Animal Lover
Have a dog? Heading along to a park with your furry friend can be a great way to meet other animal lovers. You could even set up a playdate!
- 3. Try Something New
Ever wanted to learn a new language? Or know how to cook? Why not take a class? It’s a great way to meet new people who probably don’t know each other – and a cool way to learn a new skill!
- 4. Expand Your Social Circle
Friends of friends are often a great untapped resource. If you're heading out for dinner or the cinema with a friend, why not both bring someone new for the other person to meet? Ready made squad.
- 5. Get Sporty
Exercise is amazing. No, seriously, stick with us. It makes you feel great, it can improve your confidence and it's oh so good for you. Whether it's rugby or rowing, cricket or curling, there's something for everyone. Sport Scotland have a handy guide to what you can try here.
Why not sign-up for a local team or join a walking or running club near you – a fab way to get fit and meet new friends at the same time!
- 6. Say Yes To Things
It's hard to meet new people when you always stick to the same routine. We love the story of comedian Danny Wallace who said yes to every opportunity he was offered for a whole year. You don't need to go that far (and, of course, it's important to stay safe!). But saying yes when asked to try something unexpected will open your mind to new experiences and new people.
