A Fèis (plural Fèisean) is the Gaelic word for festival or feast, but has become closely linked to the Fèis movement over the last 30 years. This movement is made up of a group of Gaelic arts tuition festivals, mainly for young people, which take place all over Scotland.

The Fèisean offer opportunities for young people to come together and develop skills in song, dance, drama and traditional music on a wide range of instruments through fun, accessible tuition from some of the best tutors in the world.

For many years Fèis Alba has taken place in Plockton during the first week of July but recently it has also been the main training event for the Fèisean Ceilidh Trails, which would normally take place across the country throughout July and August.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic Fèis Alba moved online for the first time ever in 2020. By moving to an online event, participants were provided with the same high quality learning experience that they would expect, even when they couldn't come together as they would hope to do.

Once again Fèis Alba will be back online in 2021 and it will take place from Monday 28th–Friday 2nd July. The week will include, Gaelic classes, Masterclasses in Playing for Dancing, Gaelic Song, Using archive materials, Home recording, and Accompaniment and there will be plenty of opportunity to play along with the tutors and fellow participants.

Workshops will take place between 4.30 and 9pm each day and you can take part FOR FREE.
