Midlothian Resiliance Art Project
The Midlothian Resiliance Art Project worked with young people from P1 -S2 to get their artistic thoughts on resiliance. The galleries are now open to view
Resilience is what helps us cope through difficult times. It is the ability to bounce back from adversity. Sometimes it can make us even stronger than we were before. Childhood is an important time to build resilience and there are opportunities to grow your resilience across your lifetime. We build resilience in many ways. To help with this it’s important to notice the things that get us back on track when times are tough. This can be things like:
- Connecting with other people, pets or nature
- Staying as active and healthy as we can
- Being creative
- Taking notice of our surroundings and our feelings
- Learning
- Carrying out acts of kindness
In this gallery children from across Midlothian from P1 to S2 share their resilience by showing us the things they did which helped them cope during lockdown.
We had over 150 entries from across Midlothian schools for our Midlothian Art Resilience Project. The project is about how local pupils coped during lockdown. You can visit the online gallery and see the original artwork in windows at 33 venues across the county, from local shops to offices, from Thursday 17 September for the 2 week period. Great community business and organisation support. Find out more and see our online gallery at www.midlothian.gov.uk/resilience. We also have an outdoor gallery at Dalkeith Country Park. Please take some time to visit and show your support.
