Training for Work

Developing the Youth Workforce logo

Are you still at school but struggling to think about what you’ll do when you leave? Perhaps you’ve got particular challenges which make you even more unsure? If so, then getting some work experience while you’re still at school can really help you decide on a career and build your skills. The DYW team can help you with this by finding the employers and contacts to get you a personalised work experience through one of the JET programmes. For more details contact your Skills Development Scotland worker in your school, or call the Skills Development Scotland centre on 0131 718 2040.

Are you about to leave school and don’t feel quite ready for work?  Or maybe you’ve left school and are under 26 years old but don’t feel confident about taking the next step to college, training or employment? Do you want some help to build your confidence and skills before deciding on your next step? If so, then the NOLB Activity Agreements programme can offer you a 1-1 Coach at one of our locality hubs who will help you build a personal programme through activities and groupwork experiences. They will be able to support you, week on week, to build your skills and give you the time, space and support you need to work out the way forward.

To be eligible you must be aged between 151/and 26 years and not be in a job, education or training. You may also be eligible for an Educational Maintenance Allowance of £30 per week. For more information email:
