Hi, my name is Amy, I am 23 and currently experiencing life in lockdown in a shared flat in the centre of Edinburgh.
The coronavirus pandemic is wreaking havoc on all our lives – and it's a truly strange time. I don’t know about you, but personally I don’t know how to feel: worried about my friends and family? Grateful to have more time to do the things I like? Anxious about my finances and my job? Sad because I don’t get to see the people I love?
It’s confusing to say the least, so it’s important to find ways to cope during lockdown. For me, this involves keeping busy and taking time to look after myself. I’ve learned to juggle; got really into running; tried some pilates; started making a dent in things at the very bottom of my to-do list (which have been there for months); watched A LOT of TV and spent a lot of my time drawing.
As far as I see it, anything that keeps me busy at the moment is a good use of my time. People are getting up to such a wide variety of activities, and I decided to try and capture it in a series of ‘life in lockdown’ illustrations.
I really hope this project will brighten people's day and enable other young people across Scotland to channel and share their own feelings in a fun and creative way through this challenging time.

Note from Young Scot
Young Scot are hugely grateful to Amy for all the hard work and volunteer hours she has put in to creating such a beautiful and fun-filled series of illustrations and 'how-to-sketch' tutorial. 'young.scot' is a shared resource for all young people across Scotland and we work with a broad range of national and local partners to create reliable, trust-worthy and quality content.
Supported by one of the Local Partnership Development Managers at Young Scot, the Life in Illustration #YoungScotSketch Project was created as a light-hearted way to share a young persons experience of coping with isolation, while being stuck in a flat in Edinburgh during the coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown.
If you are a young person aged 11-26, or part of a youth group, club or class of pupils who would like to create and share localised content for 'young.scot' please do get in touch via firstname.lastname@example.org
