Broken Reality by Terri Simpson

The night sky was full of stars but no moon

It was like someone had taken it

My fragile reality had been shattered

I don't think I could take that hit,

if the night sky was full of stars but no moon

The sky is blue without the sun

Someone has wiped the slate clean

A blackboard met with a duster

What could it mean,

that the sky is blue without the sun?

A rainbow without the rain

7 colours from nowhere

A splash of paint in the sky

How can nobody care,

About a rainbow without the rain?

A tree without its leaves

Its spindly limbs reaching out to me

So plain and barren

How is this a tree,

if it is a tree without its leaves?

The sea without the waves

Calm and collected

So clear and still

Its lively personality rejected

The sea without the waves
