The Mearns Youth Forum are a group of dynamic young people, aged 11 – 25, who live, work or study within the Mearns Area. They currently meet weekly, on Wednesday evenings from 6pm-8pm, through the online platform ‘Google Meet’ but are hopeful they can return to face-to-face meetings very shortly.
The aim of the Mearns Youth Forum is to make the Mearns the best place for a young person to grow up in. Their objectives to achieve this aim are:
- Set up and support events/activities/campaigns for young people within the Mearns and Aberdeenshire.
- Provide a range of information for the young people of the Mearns.
- Represent the young people on other groups in the area.
- Arrange ways for having the voices of young people in the Mearns heard.
Some recent projects and campaigns they have been involved with are: Local litter picks, setting up and supporting the Sunflower Scheme within Mearns Academy, and Health and Wellbeing promotion for young people throughout Exam stress.
